4G TV interference story on the BBC
We were recently asked by BBC South Today for some input on a news story discussing the potential for TV interference from 4G base stations. See https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=801502493273676&set=vr.801502493273676&type=2&theater.
As 4G or LTE infrastructure is rolled out then there will be more cases of the base station signal causing interference with TV reception. It's important to note that not all 4G signals will cause interference, some 4G bands (1800 & 2600 MHz) are at frequencies well away from those of TV signals and it's only the 800 MHz band that will cause a problem and then it will only be for specific TV frequencies close to those of the 4G signals. The 800 MHz equipment hasn't been rolled out across the country as yet and as more infrastructure goes live there will be more instances of interference.
