Link Microtek celebrates 25 year anniversary
25 years ago to the day Link Microtek opened its doors for business. We know we wouldn’t have reached this major milestone without our fantastic customer base, suppliers, professional service providers and hardworking staff so a sincere thank you to everyone involved on the journey over the last 25 years.
Back in 1995 mobile phones were just becoming mobile. John Major is prime minister, Tony Blair the leader of the opposition and Bill Clinton is in the Whitehouse. Robson & Jerome are at number one in the UK chart with Bon Jovi, East 17, Duran Duran and Wet Wet Wet below them. On the financial front Barings Bank has collapsed with massive debts due to fraudulent trading by Nick Leeson. Eric Cantona found himself in court after launching his kung-fu kick at a spectator, Blackburn Rovers have won the FA Premier League & Frank Bruno is soon to win the WBC world heavyweight championship.
Against this backdrop Link Microtek was founded by MD Steve Cranstone, Mike Neale & Hugo Bibby. Tony Norris joined very soon after along with Operations Manager Michelle Millet.
From those early days staff numbers have grown tenfold, some like Sales Director Stuart Hendry have been helping the company grow for the majority of our 25 years. We’ve also added significant design and manufacturing capability and moved into our own building, much of it purpose built to accommodate our engineering team.
We obviously can’t celebrate right now but we really wanted to take the opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you for your support and doing business with us over the last 25 years and that we look forward to working with you in the future.
