Waveguide detectors: 37.5 GHz to 750 GHz

Based on a Schottky diode with integrated passive matching circuitry, ACST waveguide based detectors provide a means of detecting mm-wave and THz signals, providing good sensitivity at room temperature. Uniquely ACST offer dual-band detectors covering two frequency bands in a single unit.

At the heart of the device is a low barrier Schottky diode, also known as a zero-bias diode or ZBD. They operate without any external voltage or current bias, resulting in minimal noise. ZBD-based detectors offer excellent sensitivity, noise, linearity, and compatibility with high-speed display electronics.

A really important feature is an extremely fast response time, the intrinsic response time is a few picoseconds (the gating factor in the overall response time is surrounding circuitry, cables, connectors etc). This combined with their dual-band characteristic means ACST detectors are ideal for power monitoring in both industrial and research systems, as well as for high data rate communication links and radiometry applications.
