About couplers

Sampling signals

Couplers can be used for various applications but the most common is measuring or monitoring signal power or frequency by ‘coupling’ a portion of the main signal into an auxiliary line.

Key specifications are the coupling coefficient (dB) i.e. how much of the main signal is ‘coupled’, frequency range (Hz), power handling (W), insertion loss (dB) and directivity (dB). Frequency sensitivity is a measure of how the quoted coupling factor varies with frequency.
